I just got done with the kids routine dental checkups and I hate to admit that I failed as a Mom! While my boys teeth were for the most part great, my baby girl had a mouthful of yucky sugar bugs. I felt horrible looking at her x-rays and couldn’t understand how because we brush her little teeth religiously! After talking to the dentist, she told me how important it was to be flossing her teeth as all of her cavities were in the molars in between the teeth. You would never even know she had cavities if you just looked into her mouth. Her teeth are always so sparkly white. I’m really glad we have dental insurance to handle the treatments we had to go back in for today, and also next week. Dental insurance is so important in protecting not just your teeth, but your overall health and your little ones too!
So…….. lesson learned big time, flossing, flossing, and more flossing. That was the one thing I haven’t been so great at with Ms. Kynlea because she hates it (which doesn’t excuse it) and also because it can be so hard to get into those little teeth. It takes more than just brushing to keep their little teeth (or big ones) healthy. Regular visits to the dentist are essential to clean out the bacteria in our mouths that we can’t always get rid of at home. Plus they have the equipment to better exam our teeth than we can.
Guardian Dental offers some great dental plans and you can find a lot of great information on their site as well about the importance of dental care and dental insurance. Even just a simple trip to the dentist costs money, however, and with a family or more serious issues, the costs can quickly multiply (I know this personally). That’s where dental insurance comes into play. A plan from Guardian Dental can cover the cost of basic dental services as well as most costly procedures. Guardian has been a trusted name in insurance for over 150 years. Today, we have one of the largest dental insurance networks in the country and our dentists can help you save an average of 30% on the dental care you need.
What a lot of people don’t realize is that dental problems don’t just stop in your mouth. Some serious dental conditions can lead up to other serious health issues from infections that spread, diabetes, and even heart problems. It’s super important to have routine checkups to find any issues that need to be fixed, and having a good dental plan allows you to do so.
5 Steps for Choosing the Right Dental Insurance.
1. Figure out which plan fits your budget. Guardian Dental offers 2 types of plans including DHMO and PPO.
2. Figure out which treatments are covered
3. Research what the maximum annual limit is
4. Consider the cost of the deductible
