I recently shared a favorite family recipe with a twist in my Hammed-Up Green Bean Casserole Pot Pies. I wanted to share with you today one of my favorite ways to serve up dishes at our holiday gatherings using that same recipe minus the dough!!! I got a couple of sets of ramekins a couple of years ago and have used them for lots of different dishes from foods to desserts, and I’m a little obsessed with them. There is just something so cute and fun about serving your guests with their very own minis, like these Mini Hammed-Up Green Bean Casseroles topped in Fried Onions and ooey-gooey cheddar cheese (or swiss, swiss is good too).
That’s the good thing about taking a classic recipe like the Original Green Bean Casserole and putting your own twist on it to make it your very own. Want to make your green bean casserole in a casserole pan, go ahead, you can do that! Want to try it baked in a flaky biscuit pot pie style? It’s delish and and you can try that too!
If you want to serve it up with your added ingredients in cute little ramekins, than I’ll say, great minds think alike! They’re just so easy to make, and you can serve them up next to the main dishes right on the plates or to the side. My family loves this and sometimes I actually use cooked bacon in replace of the ham, it is so yummy!
To make these cute little Mini Hammed-Up Green Bean Casserole, here’s what you’ll need.
Ingredients:
- 4 cans 14.5oz Del Monte® Green Beans
- 2 cans (10.5 oz) Campbell’s® Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup
- 2 ⅔ cups French’s® Crispy Fried Onions
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- ¼ tsp ground black pepper
- 2 cups cut ham (or bacon) pieces
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Directions
1) Stir soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, beans and 1-1/3 cups onions and ham
2) Spoon ¾ full into 12 ramekin dishes (this recipe will actually fill about 18 ramekins)
3) Bake at 350°F, uncovered, for 25 min. or until bean mixture is hot and bubbling like this.
4) Sprinkle with remaining onions and cheddar cheese
5) Bake for 5 min. or until onions are golden brown and cheese is melted.
That’s it ya’ll. I cannot wait to bring these to our Thanksgiving gathering this year, although I have a feeling I may need to buy more ramekins. What is your favorite dish to bring for the holidays?
Next time you’re in Walmart, go look at the screens by the green bean casserole display at the end of the aisle. Walmart is picking the best of the ideas given people like you and me to show right there in the store! If you see mine, let me know with a post or a tweet!
