To me there are few things better than cold hoodie weather, good company, good food, and FOOTBALL! This girl right here is excited because my favorite team is IN the playoffs (I’m a Steelers Girl if you didn’t know this). They’re one of my favorite things right up there close to hot wings!
We usually have Sunday suppers here at my home with a few of my closest friends and the big games make it that much more exciting. The food….oh the food, you have to have that and of course you can’t have a game without hot wings right? When I say hot, I mean HOT! I’ve made a few different flavors in the past and this weekend I wanted to change it up a bit and give my wings not just some El Yucateco heat, but some tang too!
Being half Hispanic I was raised with heat in my food, and I love it. Especially when there is anything habanero in it like this sauce. It’s made with red habanero peppers, tomato and select spices and seasonings and it’s perfect for the all purpose sauce. It does have a little more kick than other sauces I’ve used before, but it definitely isn’t so hot that the food isn’t enjoyable……because sometimes for me, it can be if it’s just too hot! If you like hot sauce, you’ve got to try the El Yucateco Red Habanero Hot Sauce, available at your nearest Jewel-Osco store. El Yucateco has other flavors available depending on just how much heat you want, like the Green Habanero Hot Sauce which is a little hotter than the red, and then the XXXHabanero Hot Sauce (Kutbilik) which is probably a bit much for this girl to handle!!
We went with the red! These wings may be the best batch I’ve made as far as being hot, but not too hot to not be enjoyable. Adding the mustard into the sauce just took these too another level. Give it a try, you might like it. For the tang I wanted to throw in a little mustard, and my son thought I was crazy to add mustard to these wings, but I told him, “just trust me on this one“. Guess who ate them all, he did! But at least I know their devourable and tomorrow for the next round of playoff games, I’m going to be making a bigger batch for my rowdy crowd. These are baked instead of fried, which I really like, and they really couldn’t be much easier to make.
Don’t like hot wings? There are a lot of ways to use El Yucateco Hot Sauces like these Sweet and Spicy Pineapple Meatballs, Slow Cooker Spicy Pork Carnitas, or these Firecracker Beef Meatballs.
