I’m not exactly sure when my habit of gum carrying started. I just know that I always have gum on me whether I’m inside the house, out in public, and even in my car. So much so that any time my friends are with me, they ask for gum because they know I’ll have some. I just really dislike un-fresh breath. Since I’m always on the go I try to keep my glove box emergency bag stocked. The items I keep in my bag are simple everyday needs that I tend to forget as I head out the door, including my Wrigley Extra® Gum. This is just a way to ensure that on my crazy in a hurry days, I have my essentials.
In my little glove box emergency bag, I keep a few important things like
- allergy medicine
- chapstick
- pen (I’m a chronic note taker)
- female items
- body spray
- cash, because sometimes I forget my wallet at home and I may need a 1/2 price drink at happy hour
- Wrigley Extra® Gum
Extra® Gum has always been what I chew, and when I saw the new Extra® 35-stick packs while I was checking out at Walmart I was one happy girl. Why? Well first of all, the packages come with a whopping 35 sticks of gum! Secondly, the containers they come in are plastic and as soon as I saw them, I had ideas of what I could use the containers for once the gum was gone. Am I the only one who buys things because they can serve a purpose once the product is gone?
Either way, I knew these would work great for my glove box emergency bag. Right now the new Extra® 35-stick packs come in just 2 flavors, Extra® Gum Spearmint 35-stick and Extra® Gum Polar Ice® 35-stick. I grabbed a few packages. What would you use the containers for once your gum is gone? Here are a few ideas I had instantly:
- Q-tip holder for travel bags
- Travel game cards
- Crayon holder
- Business Card holder
- Make miniature recipe cards and give them as a gift (would be great for a dorm and microwave recipes )
Since Father’s Day is coming soon, I decided to use one of my empty containers for a DIY Father’s Day Gift from my daughter to her dad. She’s just 5, so she loves making presents for people all the time, and she loves drawing and writing letters. So in his gift basket will be this really cute “Love Notes for Daddy” holder.
DIY Father’s Day Gift Idea – “Love Notes for Daddy” Holder
This is so simple to do it’s not even funny. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Empty Extra® Gum 35-stick container
- Scissors
- Letter Stickers
- Patterned paper
Instructions:
- Cut about 50 rectangular pieces of the pattern paper to fit the container. I cut the back of the gum insert out to use for measuring
- Spell out whatever you want to spell out with your stickers on the front of the container
- On the blank sides of the papers, simply let your little one draw pictures of fun things they do with Daddy, or write little notes about why they love Daddy.
That’s it. Told you it was easy. I love that my daughter enjoys making DIY gifts, in my opinion they mean the most and they get such a kick out of it. This project is easy enough for children to help with and they get such a kick out of giving things to us parents that they made.
Have you seen the new Extra® Gum 35-stick packages at Walmart? Check out what others are doing with their empty containers.
