I’ve been a huge fan of Michael Todd products since I received my first Soniclear brush a couple of years ago. They have some amazing products and the quality is outstanding. When I was younger I never had issues with my skin, but in my 30’s for whatever reason that has changed. I always blame it on my teens. I tell them I have sympathy breakouts. I was really excited to get the chance to try the Michael Todd Charcoal Deep Pore Cleanser not just for myself, but my son as well who really struggles with breakouts.
A little info about this product:
- Indications – Ideal for oily and blemish prone skin types.
- An award winning charcoal detox face cleanser that uses the incredible absorption properties of activated charcoal to gently, yet thoroughly cleanse your skin of pore-clogging surface debris and impurities and bring out its radiance. Best for oily complexions with added tea tree oil to help clear up acne.
- Paraben and sulfate free with no artificial color or fragrance
- Directions – Shake well before each use. Wet face and hands with warm water. Apply cleanser onto hands and gently massage onto damp face in upward, circular motions. Rinse thoroughly
The first thing I like about this cleanser is the packaging. This is a large 6.7oz bottle with an easy to use pump. Each pump dispenses the perfect amount for one use, and it does go a long way. Being a charcoal gel cleanser, it is a little thick, but not sticky. I didn’t expect for it to lather at all, which would have been a little disappointing because I like lather. Surprisingly though, once I added a little water and started rubbing it into my face it did lather quite nicely.
While I have used this with my Soniclear brush, I prefer using my finger tops to rub this in. This does have a different scent (and it does linger) than other cleansers, more than likely because of the charcoal in it. However, it’s not that unpleasant in my opinion. I have seen that others don’t like the smell but it really doesn’t bother me. I really liked the way this cleaner made my face feel even after the first use, and I have noticed a lot of my problem areas are more under control than before.
My son has also been using this, and the results were great for him. He was able to get his skin nearly completely clear before his prom and was so excited about it. You know teens think it’s the end of the world when they have breakouts. Even though his prom is over with, I’m still catching him in my bathroom using this daily, and that says a lot because he usually gives up on products after one or two uses.
Overall, I was pleased with the Michael Todd Charcoal Detox Deep Pore Cleanser and I will definitely continue to use it. If you have an issue with acne prone skin, this would be a great product to try, especially since it doesn’t leave your skin feeling dry and irritated, it’s actually the opposite.
