We love the spring time around here. We have rainy days, and then sunny days and the weather is perfect for outside play. We do it all from sports, to fishing, playing at the park and even just sitting outside working on crafts. The only thing I don’t like about Spring, is the allergies that come along and plague my kids and myself. I learned a long time ago to be prepared and take extra steps to make our allergies easier to manage because they aren’t just outside…..they come in with us.
When you’re outside as much as we are, the allergens from outside come into our home whether it’s on our skin, in our hair, or on our clothes…..or just blowing in the door when it’s opened. You add that to the pet dander from our dogs and it can be yucky for us allergy sufferers.
Here are a few tips on how to manage our allergies:
- Keep our allergy medications in stock. I’m not going to lie, we have to have those. Some days we can manage without, but on the worst days, they are life savers.
- Remove your shoes at the door to minimize the outside allergens entering your home.
- Keep a clean home. I vacuum every day and try to dust as often as possible to keep allergens minimal.
- Be in the know about the higher pollen count days and plan activities around those
- Shower and wash your hair at night on days the pollen count is highter. This will help keep allergens off of your pillows and out of your bed.
- Wash your clothes and linens with all® free clear laundry detergent.
all® free clear is the #1 detergent recommended by Dermatologists, allergists, and pediatricians for sensitive skin. My daughter is super sensitive the detergent I use on her clothes, so all® free clear is perfect for her. There are no dyes, perfumes, chemicals or other irritating residues and I can rest assured that it removes 99% of everyday and seasonal allergens.
Now I know that all® free clear products don’t treat our allergies, but they allow us to still be able to play outside with the assurance that the allergens will be removed….including cat and dog dander, dust mite matter, ragweed, grass, and tree pollen, with the washing of our clothes. We don’t want to be slowed down and afraid to venture outside, all® free clear makes us #freetobe active, creative, and go on about our days.
Speaking of being outside, one of my daughter’s newest obsessions lately is watching the birds from our front porch. She wanted to find a way to feed them and her first try was to just throw the food all over the front porch and watched what happened. I have to say that her idea worked, and it was cute to see the little birds right outside our front door. I thought we could do a little more though, and put her crafty ideas to work.
