If you have traveled with your kiddos, you know that family vacations can be fun, adventurous, memorable, and sometimes a pain in the rear. We’ve taken several family vacations, all long road trips and with 4 kids it can be a little trying. They get bored and tired, then cranky and the arguments ensue between them so it’s important first of all to have something to help them pass the time, one of our favorites…..access to hours of entertainment from Amazon Underground. 
Here are some other tips I’ve learned along the way to ensure a more peaceful family road trip.
- Plan ahead: As soon as we decide on a trip, I am obsessive about planning the ins and outs. It just makes things a lot smoother when everything is planned out and you are fully prepared.
- Travel in comfort. It’s been my experience that when you travel in comfortable clothing, especially on long trips, you don’t get as cranky. Same goes for the kiddos.
- Stay clean. Kids (and parents) get sweaty and grimy on hot car trips, so bring plenty of wet wipes to wash hands and faces at each rest stop. Take a few minutes to clean the trash from your car at each rest stop, and you’ll feel much more relaxed and energized when you reach your vacation destination.
- Pack an emergency kit with Band-Aids, antiseptic ointment, fever reducer and any medications your kids may need.
- Keep plenty of snacks on hand for long drives in case there aren’t many places to stop and eat. This also makes for a much more affordable feeding option.
- Slow down. Sometimes we tend to get behind the wheel and want to “drive straight through”. But children can only travel in a confined space for about two hours without a rest stop. More frequent stops result in happier kids.

- DVD Player – If you don’t have one built into your vehicle, consider taking a portable dvd player along. The longer the road trip, the more likely you will need to resort to electronics to survive the trip.
- Travel games like road trip bingo, slug bug, or I spy can help to pass the time as well.
- Download *Amazon Underground on your android devices and keep the kids entertained (and quiet) with apps that are actually FREE and even movies.

I’ve downloaded several apps this week and both my daughter and I love them. While I play my Solitaire and Words of Wonder on my android phone, she’s enjoying her Cinderella Free Fall game and Farm Slots. I love that for road trips, all of the kids can use this Amazon Underground to play games or watch their favorite movies, it just makes the trips a lot more pleasant.
